National
As a federally qualified Community Health Center, Wake Health Services,
Inc. receives about one-fifth of its operating revenues from the
Bureau of Primary Health Care of the federal Department of Health
and Human Services.
Wake Health Services, Inc. participates in a national effort to
improve health outcomes and reduce health disparities for all medically
underserved people with chronic disease. WHSI participates in the
Diabetes Collaborative, making one-on-one diabetes education available
to patients at no charge and adopting and tracking national measures
based on expert guidelines.
On the national level, Wake Health Services, Inc. is a member of
The National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC), the
trade association serving and representing the interests of America's
community health centers. NACHC promotes the provision of high quality,
comprehensive health care that is accessible, coordinated, culturally
and linguistically competent, and community directed for all underserved

Wake Health Services, Inc. is a member of the North Carolina Community
Health Center Association. The core membership consists of 23 non-profit
multi-service Community/Migrant Health Centers that operate 74 delivery

Wake Health Services, Inc. participates in the Project Access Program
of Wake County which is sponsored by the Wake County Medical Society.
More than 400 physicians volunteer to provide free care to uninsured,
low-income Wake County residents who lack health insurance.
Wake Health Services, Inc. collaborates with Project DIRECT to provide
diabetes education and referral at Rock Quarry Road Family Medicine.
Wake Health Services, Inc. partners with Wake County Human Services.
County trained and employed Human Services Case Managers are located
in three of WHSIs medical sites. They assist patients with
Medicaid Eligibility and the NC Health Choice application process.
An office of Wake Health Services, Inc., is located in the Countys
Southern Regional Center.
Wake Smiles provides quality dental care to the residents of Wake
County who are not otherwise able to afford it. Over 40 dentists
