From I-40: Take I-40 towards Cary. You will see
an exit that will say 440, Wake Forest and Sanford.
Take that exit. Stay in your left lane to go Highway
US 1 South. Take the US 1 South exit. Take US
1 South to the exit for Ten Ten Road. At the end of
the exit ramp, at the light, make a left onto Center Road.
Take Center Road until it dead ends at S. Salem Street.
Take a left onto South Salem Street. Apex Family Medicine

Dr. Byrd received his undergraduate degree from the North
Carolina State University (Raleigh, NC) in 1995 and his Doctor
of Medicine degree from the East Carolina School of Medicine
(Greenville, NC) in 1999. He is board certified in Family
Practice. Dr. Byrd completed his one-year internship in Family
Practice at Duke University Medical Center (Durham, NC) in
2000 and his two-year residency in Family Practice at Duke
University Medical Center (Durham, NC) in 2002. He joined
WHSI in July, 2002
Dr. Lawson received his undergraduate degree at Duke University
(Durham, NC) in 1981 and his Doctor of Medicine degree from
the Medical College of Virginia (Richmond, VA) in 1985. He
is board certified in Family Practice. Dr. Lawson completed
a one-year transitional internship at Riverside Regional Medical
Center (Newport News, VA) in 1986 and a two-year residency
in Family Medicine with the Riverside Family Practice Residency
Program (Newport News, VA) in 1990. He joined WHSI in January,
1991 as a Family Practitioner at the Apex Family Medicine
office (Apex, NC). Dr. Lawson was welcomed to the WHSI Management
Team and became Medical Director in January, 1996. Before
joining WHSI, he has worked as a Physician for Minor Emergency
at Denbigh, Inc. (Newport News, VA) for four years.
Janet received her Master of Science degree in Nursing from
the University of Southern Maine (Portland, ME) in 1998. She
received a diploma in Nursing from St. Mary's School of Nursing
(Lewiston, ME) in 1986. Janet joined WHSI in November, 2004
and also renders medical care to our homeless population at
Horizon Health Center (Raleigh, NC) on a part-time basis.
She is board-certified as an Adult and Family Nurse Practitioner.
Janet belongs to several professional organizations, including
the American College of Nurse Practitioners, American Academy
of Nurse Practitioners, National Association of Nurse Practitioners
In Women's Health. Her previous experience includes managed
the health care issues of patients from birth to death, diagnosed,
prescribed, and treated many acute and chronic health issues,
precepted NP students, and has a reputation for care of women
and children.
