1. From I-40: Take I-40 to the Rock Quarry Road exit
(exit 300). At the end of the exit ramp, at the light, make
a left onto Rock Quarry Road. At the next light, veer to your
left to stay on Rock Quarry Road. Take Rock Quarry Road straight
until it turns into Tarboro Road (you will cross New Bern
Avenue and will see a DMV on your left). Go through one more
light (you will cross Edenton Street and will see a Bojangles
on your left). Horizon Health Center is a gray one level building
on your left. It is located at the corner of Boyer and Tarboro
Road. It is directly across the street from a community center.

Dr. Hartye received his undergraduate degree from Villanova
University (Villanova, PA) in 1973 and his Doctor of Medicine
degree from Vanderbilt University Medical School (Nashville,
TN) in 1977. He is board certified in Family Practice. Dr.
Hartye completed a two-year residency in Family Medicine at
Duke University Medical Center (Durham, NC) in 1979 and a
one-year residency in Family Medicine at Central Texas Medical
Foundation (Austin, TX) in 1980. He joined WHSI in July, 1990
and served as Medical Director for over five years. He was
re-appointed as Interim Medical Director in April, 2003. Before
joining WHSI, Dr. Hartye was an Assistant Clinical Professor
in the Family Medicine Department of the University of Tennessee
(Memphis, TN) for one year and a Family Practitioner and Director
at Clingman Medical Center (N. Wilkesboro, NC) for nine years.
Janet received her Master of Science degree in Nursing from
the University of Southern Maine (Portland, ME) in 1998. She
received a diploma in Nursing from St. Mary's School of Nursing
(Lewiston, ME) in 1986. Janet joined WHSI in November, 2004
and also renders medical care to our patients at Apex Family
Medicine (Apex, NC) on a part-time basis. She is board-certified
as an Adult and Family Nurse Practitioner. Janet belongs to
several professional organizations, including the American
College of Nurse Practitioners, American Academy of Nurse
Practitioners, National Association of Nurse Practitioners,
and In Women's Health. Her previous experience includes managed
the health care issues of patients from birth to death, diagnosed,
prescribed, and treated many acute and chronic health issues,
precepted NP students, and has a reputation for care of women
and children.
