Franklin Community Health Services is a private, nonprofit primary care practice committed to providing quality healthcare for everyone in Franklin County.  We are your medical home and your personal physician for all stages of life. We accept all major insurances, including Medicare, Medicaid and NC HealthChoice, and also offer a discount program based on family size and income.   We welcome new patients of all ages!  Appointments are available Monday through Friday, 8:00a-5:30p.   View Map

Our Team Care brings a variety of health professionals together under one roof who are trained to look at all the ways disease impacts the patient—physically, emotionally, nutritionally, even financially.  

  • Doris Batts-Murray, MD, a board-certified family physician, practicing in North Carolina for over 25 years.
  • Patricia Rickenbaker, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a 16-year veteran with a Masters in Social Work.
  • Registered Nurse Kim Pender and Certified Medical Assistant Donna Eppeducate, advocate, and communicate with patients and with other providers regarding patients’ needs.
  • David Engel, Practice Manager,  with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work and certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse, and several years experience in case management and community development.  
  • Toni Champ, Medical Services Specialist, keeps our appointment scheduling and front desk operation running smoothly .

KARTS Transportation Program

Free transportation through KARTS is available for all FCHS patients who are utilizing our discount program.  FCHS staff will make the arrangements for patients for their convenience. 

Dental Care

We hope to offer dental care in Franklin County very soon; however, currently, those needing dental care in Franklin County can access our dental program at New Bern Ridge Family Dental Center on New Bern Avenue in Raleigh, (919) 250-2930. 

Same-Day Care (temporary location within Rock Quarry Road Family Medicine, Raleigh)

When minor illness strikes suddenly and you need an appointment today, we offer same-day appointments for existing Wake Health Services patients, age 12 and up.  Located within Rock Quarry Road Family Medicine, 1001 Rock Quarry Road, Raleigh (temporary location), Same-Day Care hours are 12 noon to 8 pm Monday through Friday.  Same-Day appointments are for minor injuries and illnesses only. Please continue to see your primary care provider at Wake Health Services for chronic illnesses such as diabetes, high blood pressure and other on-going conditions. Please call 919-833-3111 and ask if a Same-Day appointment is right for you.  Click here for a complete list of conditions treated at Same-Day Care.

Doris Batts-Murray, MD

Dr. Batts-Murray joined Wake Health in March, 2009.  She received her undergraduate degree from North Carolina A & T State University (Greensboro, NC) in 1975 and her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill, NC) in 1979.  Dr. Batts-Murray completed her internship and residency in Family Medicine at St. Vincent’s Medical Center (Jacksonville, FL) in 1982.  She is board certified in Family Medicine and has been practicing in North Carolina for over 25 years. 

Patricia Rickenbaker, LCSW

Patricia Rickenbaker is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 16 years of social work experience and has spent several years working in a rural health clinic in South Carolina. She earned a graduate degree in clinical social work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and trained at Duke Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic. She completed three years post-graduate training at the Southeast Institute for Groups and Families. She trained for seven years in methods of trauma recovery with the Foundation for Human Enrichment and is now a trainer in those methods. She is a member of the American Academy of Psychotherapists and the National Association of Social Workers.
