Wake Health CEO Penny Washington, YWCA Academy of Women 2009 Inductee

Raleigh—On Wednesday , Nov. 4th, 2009, Wake Health CEO Penella Washington was one of eleven women to be inducted into the YWCA Greater Triangle Academy of Women for 2009.The YWCA Academy of Women began in 1983 to celebrate the achievements of women of distinction in our region. These women leaders "positively impact our communities and are among the most accomplished and dedicated individuals in their respective fields." Ms. Washington was inducted in the category of Health & Human Services.

The Academy noted that “...Understanding , respecting and meeting the needs of diverse populations are critical components of Penella’s management approach...Under her leadership, Wake Health Services has expanded significantly...”Ms. Washington joins 245 women inducted into the Academy since its inception, who have demonstrated a unique commitment to the YWCA mission to empower women and eliminate racism.
